Platia Ammos is a lonely beach on the westside of the island Kefalonia. The beach impresses it’s visitors with the beauty of Nature. The landscape reminds one a little of the beaches of Myrtos and Petani, but is much less discovered and calmer. There are no tourist facilities such as bars, taverns, beach chairs or parasols on this beach.
Next to the monastery of Kipoureon, located on the peninsula of Paliki, was the beach of Platia Ammos a few years ago solely accessible by boat. Today about 280 steps were built down the cliff coast to the beautiful natural beach. The beach itself is covered with sand where after a couple of meters the rugged seabed becomes visible. Platia Ammos is a great place to relax.
In case you are not a good swimmer or have kids, be careful, the water is very deep and the sea current can be quite dangerous at times.
A hidden beach, not rarely just for yourself alone, where you can dream and relish , with music made of the sound of the sea and unforgettable impressions of an untouched part of Nature!
